The portrait photographer portrayed. Koos Breukel photographed Rineke Dijkstra in his own unique way.
Captured in a for her typical posture, a pose in which Breukel sees Dijkstra regularly. In her black coat, her hands tucked away deep in her pockets. They are almost neighbors, they’re good friends for years, they’ve both taught at the Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam, they are both photographers. That relation of trust is clearly visible in this picture. Dijkstra doesn't pose, she has surrendered herself to Breukel and his camera.
