Increasingly more local member Rabobanks are also finding inspiration in art. They either develop their own art collection or engage with contemporary art in some other way. Rabobank Utrecht is one of the local member banks that has a passion for art. It presents works from the Art Nearby project in the special personnel office for Rabobank Nederland located on the Croeselaan in Utrecht.

Rabobank Utrecht began giving talented Utrecht-based artists the opportunity to display their work back in 2005. Through theears a number of artists have also received commissions to produce work specifically for the bank. The Art Nearby project, which was established more than five years ago, has resulted in a high-quality and diverse overview of Utrecht contemporary art.
The art is on loan so that space can be made available for new talent after the exhibition period. Articles, lectures and art cards focus attention on the artists and generate purchases and commissions for them. Art Nearby has given many artists their first opportunity to show their work outside the gallery circuit. It literally brings art nearby for employees and clients.
Pim Tieland
Rabobank Utrecht is presenting an exhibition of work by the young talented artist Pim Tieland who was born in 1988 and graduated from the Utrecht Academy of Arts in 2010. The exhibition is on display at the personnel office for Rabobank Nederland on the Croeselaan. Pim paints large works in acrylic, with his smaller works often being studies for the large paintings. He also creates installations such as his ‘Primary Shelter’ work in which he used lost luggage from Schiphol Airport.
Both on canvas and in space, Pim builds constructions that stem from a need for protection. They are places where you can partially isolate yourself from the outside world – a space devoid of social pressure where you can discover or observe the world. Pim describes the painting process as a means of building layer by layer. Intuition, experiment and intense concentration alternate within the process. This is how the art endeavours to convey the sensation you would have if you were to be in his construction.
Pim views his presentation at Rabobank as a fantastic opportunity to show his work to a new public. There is also a clear link between the theme of his work and the location where his art is now being shown: a local member bank office located in the Rabobank Nederland office building, making it a space in a space.
