The Rabo Art Collection continues to gain more and more attention and as a result the time has come to open up the collection further with unlocked # 2.5. No less than thirty of the ninety artists presented in this edition are new to the Rabo Art Collection. Unlocked # 2.5 furthermore features the works from the collection of ten local member banks and an essay by art critic Hans den Hartog Jager.
The Rabo Art Collection has developed over the past fifteen years into a well-considered collection that focuses on the fields of conceptual art, engagement and condition humaine. While the collection’s focal points are currently rooted in the Netherlands, the Rabo Art Collection may eventually broaden its horizons to include works from other countries.
The process of bringing together existing and new works of art is what makes collecting so fascinating. How have the acquisitions that have been made in recent years impacted the entire range of artworks that have been selected since 1995? Unlocked #2.5 consequently charts the course that the collection is following en route from unlocked to displayed in the future.
‘Exceptional artists almost always stand out because their work is fresh, original and unconventional and cannot be compared to anyone else’s.’ (Hans den Hartog Jager)
