Rabo Art offer 2008

21-10-2008 |

Rabobank employees who had a long-held ambition to become an art collector were given the opportunity to fulfil their aspiration this autumn. This is because four young artists from the Rabo Art Collection were asked to create a limited edition artwork especially for Rabobank.

The fifteenth edition of the Art offer was presented this year based on the maxim: “Would you like to start your own Rabo Art Collection?” Employees and retirees were given the opportunity to buy a work of art that might otherwise have been beyond their reach. The Art offer constitutes a unique opportunity to acquire an exclusive and high-quality work of art that you can display in your own home.

Sebastiaan Bremer (1970), Charlotte Dumas (1977), Fernando Sánchez Castillo (1970) and Ina van Zyl (1971)  were invited to create works of art for this fifteenth edition. Van Zyl seized the opportunity to create a lithograph, which was a technique she had actually never worked with before. Bremer produced a depiction of a lavish Venetian interior using the technique that is so characteristic of his work. Dumas selected an old and a very recent photograph from her poetic oeuvre and Sánchez Castillo created a bronze statue that radiates both social criticism and a sense of humour!
