The publication of Een impressie van schoonheid (An impression of beauty) marked the first step towards opening up Rabobank Ridderkerk Midden IJsselmonde’s art collection to the wider public. The bank has built up the collection over the past five years. It adopted Rabobank Nederland’s art policy and was advised by the Rabobank Nederland Art Department. Decisions regarding whether to purchase a work of art are, however, made by the Art Committee of Rabobank Ridderkerk Midden IJsselmonde. The collection is comprised primarily of key works by artists who currently hold a key position in the Dutch art world. They are artists who constitute driving forces for their generation and who live and work in the Netherlands. The general theme of the collection centres on the changing landscape and the portrayal of people.
