The publication of Unlocked No [1] in 2001 constituted the first step towards ‘unlocking’ the art collections of Rabobank Nederland and a number of local Rabobanks. It can be compared to opening a heavy bank vault to reveal the art treasures in all of their complexity and singularity. The discussion of the meaning of art in our own lives and in modern-day society is an essential element of this process.
This book focuses on the artists who introduce themselves to us through their work that is founded on an unconventional vision. Art critic Angelique Spaninks interviewed Ger van Elk, Henk Visch and Erzsébet Baerveldt. Poet Esther Jansma wrote a personal account of her visit to the collection.
