Now
Who am I? Who are you? Who are we?
What role do background, work, orientation and environment play? In short, what is our identity?
It is impossible to give an easy answer. Because how do you look at it? As a man, a woman, an individual, a member of a group or as a professional?
The IKJIJWIJ (IYOUWE) exhibition demonstrates that identity is a multi-layered term: individual identity, cultural identity, social identity and corporate identity. We continually show a different side of ourselves and take on a different ‘guise’.
In this exhibition we let the artists from the Rabo Art Collection speak for themselves. We will probably not get an answer to the question of who we are. But sometimes it is better to ask questions than to get answers.
The exhibition features works by artists including. Rineke Dijkstra, William Kentridge, Yinka Shonibare, Guido van der Werve, Job Koeleman, Marlene Dumas and Koos Breukel.
